Time, 3min 30sec. Scratched : Bracken, Formby, and Morecambe. Petane Hack Steeplechase, of 125 soys; two miles. — Merrie Lad, 11.1, 1; Paromata, 9.7, 2 ; Bonny, 9.7, 3. Scratched : Coronation, Wai wet v, Fond Memory, Cousin Jack. Won by half a length, a length between second and third. Merrie Lad took charge half a mile from home. Time, 4min 33sec. Stewards' Stakes, of 200 soys; one mile.— Pursefiller, 9.7, 1; Portraiture, 9.2, 2; Mount Victoria, 10.0, 3. Scratched : Redloh. Won by a length, halt' a length between second and third. Time, lmin 51 2-ssec. Napier Steeplechase, of 400 soys ; three miles— The Chief, 9.7, 1; Sir Lethe, 10.5, 2; Morihiko, 9.10, 3. Sir Lethe led most of the way. The Chiet made a great race up the straight, and won by four lengths, the rest nowhere. Exotic and Cousin Jack fell. Idealism was pulled up, and Gondolier ran off. Scratched — Leolanter and Kaipetipeti. Time, 6min 50 2-ssec.
