ALLEGED BREAKING AND ENTERING
MAS COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. It was alleged against Philip George ICeszler in the Magistrate's Court to-day, that, last t week he broke into and entered the dwelling of Willie Sing, a Chinese fruiterer in Taranaki-street, and stole -various Small articles of the total value of about £i. He pleaded • not .guilty, and was represented by Mr. J. ii I.1 '. W. Dickson, Willie 'Sing said he vacated the premises in v question on the Tuesday, and on Thursday two rugs, some carpentevIntf tOols, and a box of Chinese dominoes disappeared. All these were produced and identified. ' Ah Duck, through an interpreter, tiescribed himself as a carpenter. He .rented the- dwelling after Sing had left, j and intended, to renovate it. He left ! the place later, and when he returned ! several tools and other articles and goods I ■valued , at about £4 5s were missing. The iwtidcß produced were only some of those stolen. Police evidence was given to show accused's movcmwitb on the _ night of the alleged theft. 'I hero was a -blue- jacket witli the party. 'Previously, according to Constable Hur-. ley, accused was with a party which included three man-o'-warsmen. Constable Cordine eaid he accosted accused early on Thursday morning, with something concealed under _ his overcoat. On examination he discovered some carpenter's tools and a kit (produced), ■which accused said he had picked up in it vacant section in Cambridge-terrace. At the' station the kit was found to contain all the articles produced. Accused •wai> accompanied by a Frenchman named Koue Mai,, and both vv^re sober, Mr. Dickson reserved the defence, and accused was committed for trial.
