Th» hurdle horse Kawcen did a milo on tho Band in lmin 51sec, and Spalfish went four furlongs on the insido grass in 55 2-ssec. Ilaskayne and Idealism were together two lengths i'i i pm i Royal Avttw after one round on the inside grass, the time being lmin 51 l-ssec. Bcrcola and Sandy Paul did strong work— a couplb . of circuits on the sand. Neither finished too well. ' Crown Pearl was better than Day Fly over five furlongs on the in-, side grass, the time being 1 mm 6 1-Bsec. A lot of others did useful work. Fleet Arrow and Cuirarua jumped a couple ofj tho hurdles in good style. Waldemai 1 , Master Sly, The Pole, and Nappe? Tandy jumped five hurdles, the quai ; « tette fencing well, the two former being,, in front. Glenmore took the big fences in the centre of the course, giving a good display. Admiral Soult jumped two hurdles. Mapuna and Makiri did a cir* suit of the country, going over the hill, fencing well, though Mapuna. ran off at the second fence of the double. All the candidates hi the big jumping event's were out and registered useful work, though few against the watch. v ' v Gipsy Belle, Red Pine, and Lady Mid* «lleton arrived on Saturday.
