MAGISTRATE'S COURT
To-day's • sitting of the Magistrate's Court was presided over by Mr. D. G A. Cooper, S.M. Kate Fraser was convicted and fined 2s with costs 5s for breaking two panes of glass, the property of Robert Gordon. The alternative ,was fixed at 48 hours' imprisonment. For drunkenness Esther Collier was sent to gaol for 14 days. John Noblett, a young man, was, on the application of Mr. J. F. W. Dickson, remanded for a week on a charge of receiving from Archibald Douglas Cook on terms requiring him to account for | the same to Henry Bodley the sum of 4s lid and fraudulently converting the money to his own use. Bail was allowed in the sum of £5. William Coleman wa3 charged with forging the name of C. J. Roberts to a ! cheque for £5 12s 6d, drawn on the National Bank of New Zealand, Te Aro, and uttering the same to Falk Cohen, with intent that the same should be acted upon as genuine. The accused was also similarly charged with respect to a cheque for £10 10s drawn in tho name of James G. Robertson on the National Bank of New Zealand, Te Aro, and uttered to Norman Williamson. The offences were alleged to have taken place on the Bth and 15th May respectively. A further charge was preferred against tho accused of uttering a cheque lor £12 10s to Harold Banks in tho name of J. G. Robertson. The accused was remanded till next Wednesday, Chief-Detective Bvoberg stating that two other charges wero pending against him. Eodo Fraser, who was deemed to bo a rogue and a vagabond, was sent to gaol for six months.
