HIS MAJESTY'S. A largo audience listened with much enthusiasm to tlic excellent programme provided last night »'«, His Majesty's Theatre. Especially did Mi 1 . Hayes's banjo- playing appeal to his honeis, who could not have enough of his humour and skill. Captain Brunswick's little Wild West drama was capital, and Miss Dorothy Harris and Mi&s Millie Doris were both much appreciated. Indeed, it is a. very good programme, and the public, by attendance and enthusiasm, acknowledge its merits. ST. JOHN'S ORGAN RECITAL. An enjoyable recital was given by Mi. C. W. Kerry, oi-ganist of St. John's Church, in the church last evening. The numbers he played included Mendelssohn's No. 2 Sonata (C minor and major), Elgar's orchestral suite, "The Wand of Youth." Hamish M'Cunn's "By the Burnside," Bach's "Fantasia and Fugue,' 1 a "Pastel" by Karg-Elert, Wolstenholme's "Allegretto," Dudley Buck's tone picture "On the Coast,'' and Guilmant's Prayer and Cradle Song."' During the evening St. John's choir sang the organ> ist's own anthem, "Hark, Hark, My Soul," in which the solos were taken by Mrs. C. W. Kerry «nd Mr. E. Waidie. Miss Eva Smith also sang "Lead Kindly Light." THE KING'S THEATRE. The interest and excitement of "A Prisoner in the Harem," the principal picture being shown at The King's Theatre, make it specially attiactive, and there was a large attendance last night. Very good pictures of the scene of the. disastrous fire at the Upper Hutt and the funeral nre shown. During the screening of this excellent picture a solo, "0, Rest in the Lord,'' is sung by a lady vocalist. Several other films of fine quality arc included in the piogiainme. PEOPLE'S PICTURE PALACE. Nordisk's latest _ sensation, " A Mother's Sacrifice," picturing fine acting amidst beautiful scenery, continues to draw large attendances at the People's Picture Palace. " Oporto " (scenic) and Eclair Journal pioved very popular items, as also did U.e dramatic and comedy pieces, " Tlv; Wiong Road, 1 ' "Just Skirts," and " Whwi the Prince Anived." SHORTT'S THEATRE. " Peiil of the While Lights," a drama in which the leading pail is taken by Miss Anna Nilsson, is the chief attiaction lib the new programme «t SliOrtt's Theatio. Supporting pieces include the training of Kid Lewis and Paul Til l'ftr the feather-weight boxing , championship of Europe, also several comedy and scenic items- all combining to make a most instructive and amusing' entertainment. • CR IT A N N I A TH E ATRE. The final appearandc of the pic&ent programme of the New Theatre is announced for this evening. Tomorrow's, new stries will introduce tho Acquila. Company's "feature" diama, . V'Twixt Lo\e and rame.' 1 Supporting th'p leading item will be "Mists of Error" (Hepwix drama), ''From Spiea to Loctschby 1 ' (scenic in Switzerland), and others. THE EMPRESS THEATRE. A change of progiamme will be made at tho Empress Theatre to-morrow, when the dramatic "feature" by the Domino Company, entitled, "The Inl'ormei." will be bhown. This is des-cribed as a lomautic story of the 1 evolutionary days in Tielaud. The scenes are taken in Ireland. Another striking film will bo the Kalem drama, " Explosive D." An athletic film, "All Blacks v. America," will be a special attraction. It depicts the football test match between the New Zealand and American loams at 'San Francisco. The comedy ; '•lenient is well sustained by "The Hoodoo " and "Tangled Threads." The selections by the, Empress full orchestra include "The Earl and the Gill" and " On- the Mississippi." STAR THEATRE. There wan an excellent house last evening, when the programme was well received. "A Prisoner at the Harem" and ' the "Fire and Funerals at the Upper Hutt" were specially approved. The programme will be shown to-night for the last time. ST. THOMAS'S HALL. The Nordi&k drama, "At tho Wheel." was one of the principal attractions at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, last night. Next Tuesday a benefit performance is to be given in aid of the sufferers by the fatal tire at Upper Hutt.
