The supporters of President Wilson'B attitude to Sims's Repeal Bill predict a favourable majority, exceeding thirty. Senator Lewis, continuing the debate, asserted that the first moment the United States moved into Mexico with the object of reasserting the Monroe doctrine against foreign nations there, Japan would seize the Phillipines and then capture Hawaii. Where would the United States then stand? If embroiled in Mexico, Russia could seize Alaska. In view of her Japanese Alliance, South America was also unfriendly to the United States and perhaps would Beize her opportunity and might lend aid to Mexico. Representative Knotvland in replying to the President stated that he had not charged him in any connection with the visits of British representatives to Wash' Sfgtoft with a deal over the Panama tolls. He merely questioned whether the Panama tolls repeal was a price., '
