ELTHAM, 30fch March. ; A combined meeting of the local Chamber of Commerce and the EHhaniOpunake Railway League this morning passed the following resolutions:—; "That this combined meeting expresses approval of the action of .the Government in finally fixing tho route of the Eltham-Opunake railway, and is of opinion that the ronte iixed_ is in the best interests of the whole district, and feels assured the work of construction j should be pushed on with all expedi- I tion " ; also, "That this combined meeting congratulates tho ppunakc Railway League on the final fixing of the route by the Government, otid desires to p\pressits readiness to fo-operato in any function in connection with the turning of the first sod at Opnnakf."
