RIVER BOARD DISPUTE DIVERSION OF A STREAM.
A -dispute between the Spring Creek River Board and the Lower Wairau Board has resulted in an application, made before His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) yesterday afternoon, for a. writ of attachment against tho latter body. Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C., and Mr. R-odgers (of Blenheim) appeared for the plaintiff board, and Mr. M. Myers for the defendant board. An injunction was granted in 1879 to prevent the carrying out of some river works which would have had the effect of blocking, wholly oi partially, the Opawa River, and of diverting the water which had previously flowed in the Opawa River into the Wairau Channel. Latterly some further works have been constructed, and the plaintiff board's motion had the object of attaching those responsible for thet>e works, or alternatively, of having the works removed. The question thus depends upon whether the new works constitute a breach of the injunction of 1879. The ca v e was opened yebterclay afternoon, but further affidavits have to be filed, and the hearing was fixed for 10 a,xn. on Thursday.. • J
