ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The Highland Society of Wellington held its liibt annual meeting kst evening. Mr. H. N. M'Leod, who presided, in presenting the report and balancesheet, said they disclosed a satisfactory state of affairs. He also alluded to tho good fellowship which had resulted Irom the society's meetings. A vote of thanks was passed to tho secretary, Mr. J. W. Muckay, for his services. Iv acknowledging the vote, Mr Maekny paid he hoped tho society would soon have a room of its own, where country members and visiting clansmen would bo able to meet. Ho also trusted the society would in the coming season be strong enough to givn « day's programme of national sports. The following officers were elected: — Council, Mesdames M'Vicar, ffi'Mullcn.
