GOLF KARORI CLUB.

( The second season of the Karori Golf Club was opened on Saturday afternoon. The rain and southerly gale prevented many members and their friends attending, but those who were present cheerfully faced the weather, and succeeded in getting oil' some friendly competitions. In declaring the season open, Mr. J. Mandel, captain, said, although the club was in its infancy, a golf house — of a, primitive nature, no doubt— had been erected, and the links had been great!/ improved. For this good work, the <\xpresident, Mr. Hamilton, and the committee, deserved much credit. The club looked forward to shortly having as good links as any in the Wellington district. Special- attention would be given tbis year to improving the golf house. The club _ had now 120 members, and with the increased subscriptions coming in many improvements would be made. The following were the results of 'the competitions held on Saturday : — Ladies' Driving (trophy). — Miss N. Hawson, 110 yds, 1; Mrs. Pikett, 100 yds, 2. Ladies' Approaching and Putting. — Mrs. Pikett, 1. Gentlemen's Driving (trophy).— R. W. Atkinson, 200 yds, 1; A. Burnett, 195 yds, 2. Gentlemen's Approaching and Putting.— M, Burnett, 1; Edwards, ?•; M'Beth, 3. This proved an interesting contest, this placed , men drawing on three occasions. WKt/LTNGTON CLUB. . A large number ot memners and visitors attended the opening of the Wellington Golf Club's season at Heretauttga on Satuiday afternoon. The links are in good older, urs'l with increased membership evereything points to a successful year. Therp was a fair enJry for a mixed foursome which was played.
