AN OFFER TO WORK FOR NOTHING.
The Guildford Town Council recently received an offer of " work for nothing " from a resident of the town, Mr. H. E. Lee, who wrote :—": — " As a resident in Guildford I am writing to offer my services to the town in whatever capacity they may be of use. I came to Guildford three years ago, and hoped I should in time find employment of some Kind here, but have found very little, after much search. lam a teacher by profession, with a University education (Oxford), 47 years of age. I want remunerative work, but have a greater wish to be of some use in the town, and am quite willing to work for nothing if I can help in such ways as checking the abuse of public advertisements, suggesting improvements in roads and traffic, ■ especially motor traffic. I should like, of coarse, to be given some definite work. I am not a fanatic, and being quite unconnected with trade or business I have no axe to grind." (The offer was dealt with by a committee. |
