MAGISTRATE'S COURT
To-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court was presided over by Mr. D> G. A. Cooper, S.M. For drunkenness, John M'Arthy was fined £1, with the alternative of three days' imprisonment. Patrick Daly, similarly charged, was fined 10s, penalty for default being fixed at forty-.eight hours' imprisonment. Six first offenders were also convicted. James Foster, a seafaring man, who had created a disturbance in a restaurant, was charged with disorderly behaviour, and, further, with resisting the police. A fine of £1 and costs (8s) was imposed in respect to each of the charges. Thomas Frederic was fined 10s, with the alternative of forty-eight hours' imprisonment, for having been found by night in a railway carriage .a^Lambton Station.
