(IT TELEGRiEH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, 25th March. The polo tournament was continued to-day. The Savile Cup competition was resumed in the afternoon with the game Poverty Bay v. Hawke'sßay B. This was brisk from the word "Go." The teams were equally matched and were in fine nick, and the large crowd of onlookers was treated to a very fine exposition of the game. Play throughout kept attention concentrated. The teams were :—: — Hawkes Bay B : W. G. Stead, 0. Nelson, J. Lyons, E. Nairn. Poverty Bay : Phillip Sherratt, Thornley Sherratt, Randall Sherratt, John Murphy. , Play opened brightly and fast, and Thornley Sherratt a few minutes after the whistle blew dr,ew first blood for Poverty Bay. Some strenuous up-and-down field play followed, and then Nelson equalised matters. A fine rush down field by Hawkes Bay just fell short of a score. Fast play all round the ground marked the opening stages of the second spell, whjch had' not gone far before R. Sherratt scored Poverty Bay's second goal. Shortly afterwards Murphy made a brilliant dash, shooting straight and accurately, but failed when but a few yards from the goal. A penalty against Hawkes Bay gave Poverty Bay what seemed an easy shot, but it went outside. A bit of brilliant play early in the following spell by R. Sherratt resulted in a third goal for Poverty Bay. Hard play followed, but the spell ended without further score. Early, in the fourth spell P. Sherratt placed ,. a nice one, and made the score — Poverty Bay 4, Hawkes Bay 1. The "fifth sp?ll opened with a hot attack by Poverty Bay, but when Hawkes Bay was being hotly pressed Stead got the ball going and relieved the position, getting over the Poverty Bay goal line a few yards outside the posts. Whilst following up another Hawkes Bay rash Stead's pony was hurt, breaking his near fore fetlock, play was suspended for a minute or so. Play continued fast but resultless. Play ranged up and down the field, Christchurch taking the initiative in most of the movements, and at the end of the spell they were a.ttacking. Christchurch continued their offensive tactics in the second spell, and Hawkes Bay were kept busy holding them off. Tfyen M'Lean created a diversion and removed play to the other end of the field. Christchurch soon reversed this position, however, and ended the epell attacking. In the third spell Onslow, taking a pass from Little, was successful with a shot. Chnstchurch narrowly missed another just , afterwards. Teschemaker led a splendid rush, but. Shield saved and turned the tables for the moment.
