NARROW ESCAPE OF A CONSTABLE. (BT TELEGRAPH.— PRBSS ASSOCIATION.) GISBORNE, This Day. A mental patient roaming in the Motu district in a nude state, and with a gun, has been creating alaini. He was brought to town by the police and committed to the Avondale Mental Hospital. On the journey the buggy in which he was being conveyed capsized in a flooded river and "the horses were swept away and drowned. ' Constable Williamson became entangled in the reins and had a narrow escape.
