RESULT OF EXETER INQUEST
MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE DRIVER COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) SYDNEY, 24th March. The Inquest on the victims of the Exeter disaster has concluded. The jury returned a verdict that the accident was caused by Driver Irwin over-running the home signal, which was at " Danger." A rider was added that the loop lines should be lengthened to accommodate any train, or that a refuge siding should be made _at either end. Also that more precautions are necessary in foggy weather. Driver Irwin has been committed for trial for manslaughter, bail being fixed at £200.
