The Eight Hon. W. I<\ Massey is on his \va-y from the West Coast to Christchurch. The Hou. J. Allen and the Hon. A. L. Herdman are at Rotorua, the Hon. W. H. Herries at Gisborne, and the Hon. I<\ M. B. Fislm- in the Wairarapa,. The Hon. R. H, Rhodes is on his way to Auckland. The other Cabinet Ministers are in Wellington. Sir Joseph Ward, who left for Auckland by tho Main Trunk train to-day, will deliver a public address at Auckland to-morrow evening, will go to Te Aroha. on Friday, and return to Wellington on Saturday. ' Mr. W. Dinwiddie, of Napier, is oni a visit to Wellington. Mr. James M'Kerrow, of Wellington, is on a visit to Cambridge. Mr. J. Cullen, Commissioner of Police, is paying an official visit to the Otago district, Mr. D. R. Caldwell, formerly of Wellington, has been elected president of the Cambridge Golf Club. Mr. A. D. Thomson. Assistant Public Service Commissioner, is with the Public Service Appeal Board at Greymouth. Mr. R. Trtggs will return to Wellington from Nelson on Friday. Mr. W. H. Price, manager of the Inyercargill branch of the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived in Wellington by the Maori this , morning. He is to act as manager of the local office during Mr. W. A. Kennedy's absence on holiday leave. Mr. A. E. Nash, chairman of the New Scrtith Wales Rowing Association, who is at present in Wellington, was the guest of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association at the Royal Oak Hotpl yesterday, Matters of mutual interest between Australian and New Zealand oarsmen were discussed. Mr. Allan Maguire and Mr. and Mrs. Lert M'Ken'/ie have retiirned to Wellington from a visit to various parts of the Auckland district. Amongst the places visited was the Thames, where Mr. Maguire and thousands of others were engaged in digging for gold forty-six years ago. ( Towards tho end of last year ilr. Maguire was seriously ill in Wellington, but, of late his health has improved considerably. Mr. Edward G. Stericker, a pioneer of South Canterbury, died on Friday last, at the age of 84 years. He was the son of a, Yorkshire farmer, and landed at Lyttelton in 1853. In 1857, in partnership with Mr. George Hall, he took up a run in the Mackenzie Country. Later be sold the run and bought 540 acres near Tirmiru, where he had since lived. He was a member of the Provincial Council, a captain in the /ust Timaru Volunteers, and a Justice of the .Peace (appointed 1860).
