CAMPAIGN OF CANVASSING. Strenuous endeavours are being made by the Citizens' Committee to raise the sum. of £6000 required to complete 1 , the acquisition of .Day's Bay bush and recreation grounds for the public benefit. The committee, which has been considerably strengthened lately, now consists rif Messrs. W. J. Organ (Mayor of Eastbourne), L\ V. Skerrett-, X.C, T. M. Wilford, M.P., Dr. Newman, M.P., W. H. D. Bell, M.P., Hon. T. W. Hislop, D. M'Laren, T. Balh'nger, W. Perry. R, S. Beere, X Phelps, R. Wilson, F. P. Kelly, Atkins, Baker, P. Still, Focke, A. H. Hollis, J. A. Tripe, D. N. Isaacs, E. W. Hunt, S. S. Brown, H. Nathan, and W. H. Turnbull, and Councillors, Fletcher, Thompson, Wright, Frost, Button, and Buddie. At this morning's meeting of the committee the reports of canvassers were encouraging, and it was anticipated that by to-morrow p. goodly list of donations and promises would be to hand. The need for additioinal, and above all active, canvassers, was pointed out, and it was decided to ask the ladies who are engaged in the activities of, the Carnival to , project their enthusiasm into this sphere of operations. Several public and private associations are being approached to the same end, and in every possible way_ the committee is endeavouring to achieve its object. It meets each day_ at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Turnbull's auction rooms, Panama-street, and its watchword is "Come over and help us." The.lSastbonrne Borough Council is holding a special meeting on Monday afternoon to consider the question.
