FAREWELL TO MR. W. DOUGLAS

In the Burlington rooms last night, Mr. Will Douglas, general manager for the Brennan - Fuller vaudeville circuit in New Zealand, who leaves for Sydney this evening to tako up ( an, important position at the firm's headquarters, was entertained at a farewell gathenng. There \fas a, large attendance representative of the theatrical profession, the press, business people, and private citizens. Mr. John Fuller, sen., presided, and during the function presented Mr. Douglas With a handsome gold sovereign-case carrying its full complement of golden coins. Mr. Fuller spoke of the many good qualities of the guest, 6f his energy and courtuousness, and the great advance he had made in the profession, prophesying that Mr. Douglas would still advance until he was at the absolute top of the tree; remark-} which were endorsed by Mr. John Fuller, jun., Mr. Bert Royle, Mi\ B. Brown, Mr. J. Rivers, Mr. J. M'Orath, Mr. W. Blundell, Mr. E. T. Taylor, Mr. Beveridgc, and others. Mr. Douglas acknowledged the gift, stating that had it not been for the loyalty of his friends he would not have advanced to his present high position. Pie bespoke for his successor, Mr. Harry Mullcr, t-ho same good friendship as had been extended to linn. During the evening bongs were given by Messrs. E. Blundell, Bert Roykj. Barrio Marschel, 'I. E. Leonard, Pk>H. 0. Fuller, sen.', and Carl' ton and Sutton, Mr. J. Cowloy playing the accompaniments artistically. Later in the evening Mr. Douglas was presented with a travelling rug by the stall's of His Majesty's Theatre.
