MASTERTON HORTICULTURAL SHOW

(IT TBLgQRAPB—SPECIAL TO Tfll POST.) MASTERTON,' This Day. The sixth Autumn Show of the Maetc-r-ton Horticultural and Industrial Sooiety proved highly successful. Tho entries wcrp large in every class except fruit, the exhibits in the latter being affected by tho frosts in tho oarly part of the seasoh, and tho ravages of birds during tho past month or ko. The pot plants' and cut flowers made a very fine display—tho finest sinoe the inception of tho fcociety. Keen competition was manifested in tho amateur classes. The decorative classes were a feature of the show, and a grout improvement on previous displays. In pot plants Mrs. E. Meredith and Mrs. G. W. Soll&i- divided hemours, while the prizes in tho cut flowers sections were well cut up. Mrs. T. Wood, Mr. Varnhani. and Mr. G.. W. Sellar wfero the principal winners. Mrs. li. To mint scored Hip bulk of the prizes in the decorative classes, Mrs W. Wood boitiec tho most successful of the other exhibitors. i In tho fruit classes honours wore divided amongst W. H. Dunn, J. S. Alpnes, J. Caselbcrg, J. W. Mintoh, and A. P. Townsond. Mesdames Anderson, Miller, and J. B. Nicol wero the most successful exhibitors in the homo industry section.

The annual picnic of the 1 Wellington Working Men's Club and Literary, Institute will be held ot Day's Bay to-mor-row.
