WHEN N.Z. TEAMS ARE BEING PICKED CLAIMS OF PLAYERS IN SMALLER DISTRICTS. (BT TELEGRAPH- -81'ECIAL to THE POST.) DUNEDIN, This Day. The Rev. E. 0. Blamires, known throughout the Dominion as a cricketer, is now in Dunedin, attending the Methodist Conference. Speaking about cricket prospects, he said : "My opinion is that when a New Zealand team is be* ing picked some consideration should be given to the claims of players in the smaller districts. VVe may find good material there. ■ 1 think I can mention one very promising young man. I have played against moat of the New Zealand bowlers, and none have impressed me so favourably as Holland ? of Wanganui. He is a fast medium bowler, and the off break that ho gets on a fast wicket is remarkable. I should like to see him given a chance. I can tell you also of a good batsman. M'Mahon, of Gisborne, is, in my judgment, in the first flight to-day. He is 1 fit to go in any team. He learned his cricket in New South Wales." N.S.W. CRICKETERS WESTRALIAN TOUR MAY FALL THROUGH.
