TIMARU, This Day. ~ The run-getting yesterday by the Australians established- a New Zealand, Australian, and world's records. There were great displays by Cody, 1 Crawford, and Intmper. With 'the exception of M'Cregor. Cody scored slower than any of the high-total men. He hit fifteen 4's, but gave a life when at 53. Crawford gave several chances, almost all of which would have been accepted by a n'rat-class field. He opened his shoulders to everything, and could be, barring the chances, likened to Jessop. He hit fourteen 6"s and forty-five 4's. Trump^r played r, characteristic mnin.es, scoring .all round the wickei., by pretty strokes. He hit one 6 and twenty-one 4's. _ Half-century partnerships "were got in ten minutes, the fastest in nine minutes — a world's record — hy Noble and Crawford. The bowling was good until at the finish fatigue broke it down and tho batsmen did what they liked.
