FIRE AT DUNEDIN

TAILORING WORKSHOP GUTTED. FORTY HANDS IDLE. (1Y TEL3QRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, This Day. J. and J. Arthur's tailoring workshop was completely gutted by fire at 3.15 o'clock this morning. The cause is unknown. Forty hands have been thrown idle. . There is an insurance in the Royal Exchange office of £1200. The approximate damage is £1000. The brigade effected a splendid save, and after a great fight managed to confine the flames to the workshop, thus saving the block of wooden buildings, mostly shops. A stiff sou-wester was blowing. When a constable passed at 2.50 o'clock there was no sign of fire, but twenty minutes later he heard a' crackling, and saw smoke and flames issuing from the building. The British Dominions General Insurance Company will cover all your loss by fire. Ask for the rates at their office, Panama-street, and secure yourself from all' risks. — Advt.
