CHANGEABLE WEATHER
So far this month the total rainfall has not reached the one inch mark, the official 'record being 0.92 in. During the past 24 hours rain has been threatening to fall in Wellington, but the sky cleared this afterijoon, and to the layman there does not appear to be much prospect of a downpour in the immediate future. The barometer has been unsteady, and north-east* erly winds have prevailed. The weather has been warm and cloudy. To-day the oppressive heat of the last few days has given place to cooler conditions, for a fight southerly sprang up this morning, • and increased in force during the afternoon. The wind will probably go round to the north before _ long. The weather forecast is for rain in the northern and east coast districts of the North Island. In parts much mist and fog is promised. Generally speaking, the prospects are for changeable weather.
