The Lower House passed the Alaska - Railways Bill, and the Senate 2>assed a similar measure. A conference^ both Houses is pending to give the measure final form. A thousand miles of railwa.y development in Alaska is planned, With the ultimate construction of Canadian link lines through British Columbia, providing a strategic railway of great importance along the North Pacific coast. In the event of war this would render transportation of troops easy.
