FORECAST.
At 9 a.m. to-day the following forecast was issued for the subsequent H hours:—
Winds.— Northerly winds, increasing strong to gale, generally, but easterly in the southernmost districts. Barometer. — Falling again everywhere soon. Sea.— Heavy between Castlepoint and Kaikoura and in Foveaux Strait; considerable swell on the vest coast of the South Island; rough on the west coast of the North Island and the east coast of the South; moderate elsewhere. Tides.— High oosthward of East Cape and on the east coast af £lie South Island; good elsewhere. Warning signals for northerly gales aro exhibited at Cape JMuria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, East Cape, Castlepoint. Capes Campbell, Foulwind, and Farewell Spit, and also at Stephen Island, but for eabterly at Nugget Point and Centre; Island. Weather.— Expect dull, misty, and cloudy weather, with rain prohablu generally, heavy in the South Island, with risers rising. D. C. BATES.
