THE TOWN BELT TO THE EDITON.

Sir, — Congratulations on winning your point with the City Council regarding the Town Belt, and I for one am pleased to see the Mayor and his council have finally promised to get a complete survey and map. I trust when it 4s completed the whole of the Belt and reserves will be placed under the land transfer. Councillors all seemed quite at sea when asked how much available space the Belt contained suitable for playing areas. Councillor Barber to my mind supplied the best argument possible for the need of the plan when he said he could see 100 acres in sight from Constable-street, but that was only problematical. It seems to me that it is evident without this survey the citizens do not know how much of the Bolt has been lost to Wellington, and surely councillors know that right of occupation, is perha.ps the strongest law they will have to fight, and it will be interesting to see if we have lost as much land as it is often stated we have. For instance, I wish to draw your attention to some land adjoining the Homo for Incurables, which I am told is part of the original gift which is now in private use ; then again, what about some land on the top of tho Botanical Gardens j again at. Con-otable-Btreet portion, to cay nothing of.

this crib in Mem-street which contains about 16 strands of barb wire. Concluding, I hope The ' Post "keeps at 'em" until this promise is given affect to and thus will earn the. lasting gratitude of the public— l am, etc., JOSEPH BURKE.T 18th October. \
