WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF THE SIANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Mr. C. G. Wilson presided over a meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association held last evening. Other members present were Messrs. Midlane, Mason, Fanning, Crombie, Goldfinch, Hickson, Bray, Martin, and Beechey (secretary). The chairman and Mr. Fanning were appointed to meet Mr. A. A. George, president of the Wednesday Cricket Association, to discuss th 6 question of rental of rooms at the Basin Reserve. The committee appointed to discuss the most preferable ' course with regard to the championship matches has decided that at the conclusion of the first' round the four leading teams , should compote in an "A" competition, and the four remaining teams compote iin a- "B competition. The highest; team in each section will play the third team, and the second will play the fourth. The winners of the two sections would afterwards play each other, J but the championship would be decided on the number of points gained during the season. By this means it was {considered that the interest of the competition would be sustained. The recommendation -was adopted, and it was agreed that the final should, if possible, be" a three days' match. The fee for outside teams requiring a practice wicket was fi^ed at £3 3s. Mr. M. Luckie, who has acted as delegate to the New Zealand Cricket Council, sent in his resignation,, which was received with regrfet. Mr. Goldfiucn was appointed to attend the meeting with the chairmanf at Chrietchurch to-morrow. , A letter was reoeived from the Town Clerk 6tating that the Reserves Committee had received a request from the Public Schools Cricket Association for the preparation of wickets this season on Newtown, Kelburne, and Kilbirnie Parks, and the committee thought that this work should bo undertaken by tho Wellington Cricket Association in lieu of the City Council by providing them with grounds on the eastern side of the Basin Reserve. — It was decided to ascertain the number 'of wickets required by the association. At the suggestion of the Auckland Cricket Association, the New Zealand Council had appointed a committee to arrange a programme for the matches for the Plunket Shield, but, according to a letter received from the parent body last night, this committee had been unable to go into' the matter owing to the interchange of visits of th© Australian and New Zealand teams. They .were of the opinion that this year the various associatipns should mutually agree as to dates. Mr. D. Reese^ of Christchurch, notified that the dates of the match between his Canterbury team and Wellington were the 13th, 14th, and 15th Novomber. It was decided to ask tho City Council for permission to use the Basin Reserve on those dates as well as the 25th, 26th, an<J 27th December. The matches, which commence on" Saturday next, will be continued on Monday, commencing at 11 a.m., anl continuing to 6 p.m., with an hour for lunch.
