At the Doncaster Meeting, the following was the result of the race for The St. Leger Stakes, of 5500 soys, by subscription of 50 soys each; for entire colts and fillies foaled in 1910; colts 9.0, fillies 8.11. About one mile six furlongs and 132 yards. W. Hall Walker's br c Night Hawk, by Gallinule— Jean's Folly, 9.0*... 1 J. R. Joel's b c White Magic, by Sundridge— Vierge, 9.0 ... 2 Captain J. H.'Greer s b c Seremond, by Desmond — Serenata, 9.0 ... 3 Louvois led for half the journey, but woe beaten half a mile from home, and finished last. White Magic led until Night Hawk challenged. Night Hawk won easily by two lengths. Time, 3min 3 3-ssec — a record for the race. The winner started at long odds. His owner didn't even trouble to pome to Doncaster. Record price* were paid at the Doncaster sales. A Desmond — Palofcte filly brought 2600 guineas. She goes to Russia. LONDON, 10th September. A colt by Desmond out of Silver Pheaant, brought 6100 guineas — a record for the Doncaster sales. A yearling colt by Symington out of Altair realised 4500 guineas, and a colt by Roiherode out of Magnitude 4000 guineas. Ninety-one lots averaged nearly 600 guineas.
