I MEETING OF COUNCIL A PROPOSAL REJECTED.The meeting of the council of Vie* toria College lnist evening was attended by Mr. H. H. Ostler (in the chair),, Dr. Prendergast Knight, Messrs. C. Wilson, A. T. Maginnity. W. Ferguson, T. R. Fleming, R. M'Callum, C. B. Morison, ' and A. R. Atkinson. The New Zealand Dentnl Association wrote thanking the courtcii for the use of its rooms during the recent conference and enclosing a cheque for £10 10s towards the college library. The Finance and General Purpose* Committee reported that a letter had been received from Mr. W. C. Quinnell, veterinary surgeon, with reference to the establishment of teaching in veterinary, science and farriery. The Professorial Board recommended that a reply be nent ' that while there was need for university ' work in these subjects Buch work should be associated with either a, school of 1 agriculture or c school of medicine.
