MINISTERIAL DECISION. Mr. H. A. Parkinson, hon. secretary of the New Zealand Edncational Institute, states that an important announcement has been made by the Minister for Education in relation to teachers' salaries. Last night the Hon. Mr. Allen informed the executive of the institute that, pending a general revision of salaries next year, he will, in addition to the concessions already announced, give security this year against loss of salary through falling attendance, and will also consider the question of replacing the present basis of payment by something better.
