ARCHITECT'S BILL

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—lt is to be hoped that a clause will be inserted in the Bill making it a criminal offence for an architect to ask a builder for a oommieeion on work carried out under any contract supervised by the architect. Such conduct is unworthy of a respectable profession, and men lending themselves to such sharp practice should be summarily dealt with. It has been remarked that- an architect has been known to go round among the builders instructing them to include a certain amount for him when calculating the amount of their tender. Unprincipled individuals of the class referred to bring discredit on others, and unless the profession takes pains to purge its rolls of such undesirables it does not deserve any Parliamentary protection.—l am, etc., A VICTIM. • 6th August, 1913.
