At 9 a.m. to-day the following forecast was issued for the subsequent 24 hours: — Winds.-tVariable ; south-easterly, moderate to strong and veering by east to northerly after 16 hours north of New Plymouth and Cape Campbell; westerly in Fbveaux Strait; land and sea breezes with northerly prevailing shortly elsewhere. Barometer. — Little movement at present, but fall after from 10 to 16 hours. Sea.— Considerable swell between Bast Cape and Oamaru; moderate generally elsewhere. Tides.— Low on the west coast of the North Island; poor on the west coast of the South; good elsewhere. Weather.— Cold and changeable with increasing cloudiness; foggy at times on the coasts, and showery in the extreme south and about East Cape. D. C. BATES.
