ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH
ANNUAL MEETING OF PARISHIONERS. At the annual meeting of the parishioners of St.' Michael's, Kelburne, the vicar (Archdeacon Harper) presiding, the report presented stated that there had been a very satisfactory increase in the attendance of the services, and that satisfactory progress in other directions was evident. The accounts disclosed the finances to be in ,an extremely satisfactory condition, which was, as usual, in a great part due to the energy of the Ladies' Guild. It was possible, out of the general fund, to pay into the sinking fund for the redemption of the mortgage on the property, the annual instalment of £94, besides having £106 Ss 7d in hand, and £139 14s promised for the building fund, which had only been in existence since September last. The Chairman pointed out the progress made by the Sunday School, under the superintendence of -Mr. D. Bray, whose zeal had so largely extended the influence of the school. An important alteration was made by rescinding the constitution originally framed, and substituting a constitution, bringing Kelburne into line with subdistricts of parochial districts. The vicar appointed Mr. R. T. Tosswill as his churchwarden, and Mr. H. M. Stephens was elected peoples' warden. The following Vestrymen were elected:— Messrs. J. F. Collins, G. N". Sturtevant, V. B. Willis, F. T. R. Johnston, T. Milligan, John Cook, Ger* aid Bell,'G. W. Longhurst, R. Pasley, and J. Robery. auditor : Mr. J. M. Butt. The meeting passed a motionpledging itself to' support the objective of the Bible-in-Schools League, and requesting that a referendum of the whole people of the Dominion be taken to decide the question.
