Private information received in Christchurch from London states that it is understood the new Manager for the New Zealand Railways is Mr, Ernest Havilland Hiley, Divisional Qoods. Manager on the North-Eastern Railways, Newcastle. He is the son of a clergyman, forty-three. years of age, and was educated at Rossall. He has had a wide experience on the Great Northern Railway and in his present employment. (BY mSoaAPH— MtESS ASSOCIATION.) GORE, This Day. Mr. Herries (Minister for Railways) was shown the Christchurch Press wire regarding the General Manager of Railways, but would ,not comment on it, stating that the matter had not been decided by Cabinet up to the time he left Wellington. Regarding the above telegram, Mr. Massey informed a Post representative that the statement must bo taken for what it is worth. No appointment has yet been made,
