In connection with the disaster' during the German naval manoeuvres off Heligoland, it is officially stated that the fk> tillft including torpedo boat Sl7B led nt half steam, and steered in nccord&nco with orders eastwards to give the cruisers room. Bad weather prevented the vessels keeping formation*. Sl7B attempted to cross ahead of tll« cruder Yorck, but failed tb nlftnoeuvi'e properly, and a collision wns unavoidable.
