CONCILIATION COURT PROCEEDINGS. > Before the ultimatum from the marine engineers was presented to the Union Steam Ship Company the company had cited the men as a party to a dispute, which was to be heard before the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. P. Hally), a hearing being fixed for tho 11th inst. Though a settlement has since been effected, the Conciliation Council proceedings will take place as previously arranged. The Union Company has already appointed its assessors— Meesre. W. A. Kennedy (local manager) and W. G. Smith (head office staff, Dunedin). At the hearing, which takes place at the company's office n<>xt Tuesday, at 11 o'clock, Mr. Tripe (the company's local accountant) will act in place of Mr. Smith. The engineers have appointed their assessors : Messrs. T. R. Wallace (Wellington secretary) and S. D. Hanna (Auckland secretary). The sitting of the Council will be a formal one only, and is being held for the purpose of giving the Arbitration Court the opportunity to make the agreement arrived at on Thursday, and completed and signed by the parties since, an award of the Court.
