OL]> BOYS AND SWIFTS DRAW. The second round of tho water polo competition was commenced at To Aro baths last ovening, / when Old Boys (leaders in tho first round) met Swifts. Swifts \\oro evidently out to win, for they _ went to the attack immediately on opening, and Mooro had an • unsuccessful snot From halfway. The ball was smartly returned and went to tho Swifts' forwards, who made the pace warm. Jenkinson narrowly missed scoring, and would have done so had he not taken ' the ball behind. This', gavo Old Boys breathing space, ■ and they benefited accordingly. Even play followed for a spell, when. Swifts' once again broke away. Excellent '"play on bahalf of Campbell and Patterson prevented Jenkinson scoring. ' Old Boyß improved considerably, and after • having tho better of the game for a time, Newman scored the first, goal. ' Until halftime Old Boys did all the attacking, and Wilton (in goal) prevented numerous shots from going home. At tho ' cominoncement of the second apell, Old Boys attacked, but after that each team in ( turn made tho pace^ Old Boys failed to score several timos, notably when Capper failed with a shot. Wilton spnt the ball to Moore, who swam to the Old Boys' ffonl-mouth, where Fordham was awarded a foul. He sent tho ball to M'Grath, \?ho scored. I—l.1 — 1. Old Boys_ now, took almost comjilote control, and in a very brief time Newman scored two goals. Then the tables wero turned. Swifts' attacked strongly, and tho excitement amongst the spectators increaEcd. Before tho final whistle sounded M'Grath scored andther goal, and Fordhom got one. This niade the ••esult" a draw.
