GOVERNMENT LIFE INSURANCE DEPARTMENT
.The annual picnic of tho officers of the Government Life Insurance Department took place yesterday at Day s Bay. There was an, attendance of about 120 officers and friends. Luncheon and after' noon tea were provided, and the weather being fine until livto in the afternoon, an enjoyable was spent by all. Ths following were the winners of the various events in the sports programni' : 75yds Handicap— N. Bennett 1, C. H. Murdoch 2. 50yde Swirtl— M'lntosh 1, M'Callum 2. Three-legged Rafle—Bennett and Coldicutt 1, Sturrock and Mnrdoch 2. One Mile Handicap — Johnston 1, Hampson 2. Relay Race— New Business Branch 1, Actuarial Branch '2, Cor» respondence Branch 3. Bedroom Dash and Hat-Trimmine Competition— Selby 1. Thread-the-needle Race— Miss Trevcthick.
