Hill presided at fhe monthly meeting of the Wellington Centre of the Eoy&l Life-Saving Society, held last evening. , In reply io a letter in -which the society stek-ed for- perflUßsioii to place illustrated charte explaining the methods of rescuing a- drowning person and the methods of resuscitation, etc., in the tramway waiting-sheds close to beaches, swimming baths and bathing sheds m the different bay« around Wellington, and also on all corporation property close to beaches, the Town Clerk stated that the proposal had been sanctioned by the -City Council. It was decided to write thanking the council for the practical interest it was taking in the work of the society. The Town Clerk also wrote in reference to the request that school children who gain the certificate, bronze medallion, er higher awards of the society, be allowed to enter the baths for the remainder of the 'season free of charge. It was stated that the council hail ateo ■ been pleased to grant this request. A letter wa#, received from the Maranui Surf. Life-saving Club, asking the Wellington Centre to take up debentures in the club. It, was explained that the club had decided to issue forty debenture* »t £1 each, with which it vne hoped 'to *ne*b th« liability incurred in tho building of olub reome at Lysill Bay. After a brief discussion, it was decided to take ug ten debentures in the club's scheme.
