(B? TELIiCXArn — 3'tIKSS ASSnCUTIOW.) WESTPOBT, This Day. A fire occurred, last night, originating amongst a stack of packages of matches behind tho counter of Cyril Aycrs's hairdresser's shop. Considerable damage by firo, smoke,, and water was done. The insurance was £200 in Ihe Stato Office.

Tho weekly session of the Hope of Petone Ledge of Good Templars was held last evening in tho Ranfurly Hall, Sydney-street, Petone. Sister G. Dehby presided over a good attendance, which included visitors from the Star of Wellington Lodge of Good Templars, and Bro. and Sister Keeble, members of the St. George Lodge, G. 33, of India. An interesting lecture, entitled "Legends of Old England," was given by Bro. T. Townsend, G.E.S. Items were also given by Bros. Robettson and J. Rose and Sister Hyde, of Wellington. Sister G. Denby, superintendent of the Jnvehilo Temple, announced that next week the annual prize-giving rally would be held. The item for next week will be given by the Mayors of Petone (Mr. J. W. M'Ewan).
