MYSTERIOUS AIRSHIP

German newspapers deride the reports of the nocturnal visits of an airship to England and the recent British suspicions. They say it would be impossible for the most powerful Zeppelin airship to Secretly visit England. WHAT THE POLICE SAW. SHIP HOVERS~ABOVE MARINE BARRACKS. (Received February 26, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 25th February. Police and others at Portsmouth state that an airship with a powerful light hovered high above the Marine Barracks, and then returned north. The body of the craft was not distinguishable in the darkness. BRITAIN BEHIND GERMANY. (Received February 26, Q. 30 a.m.) LONDOtf, 25th February. A member of the Royal Flying Corps points out that Britain has neither an aeroplane nor a dirigible to cope with the Zeppelins, whilst her anti-aircraft armament** consist of a few experimental quickfirers, in the handling of which no one has yet been trained. Suitable shells, he adds, have not been provided. COASTGUARD'S REPORT. (Received February 26, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, 25th February. A coastguard has notified the Admiralty that a mysterious airship passed Hornsea, on the Yorkshire Coast, tonight.
