A portion of the steamer's tight machinery has been saved, and it is anticipated that the balance of the lumber will be salvaged. The force of the ocean swell has carried the wreck right on top of the reef, and, although the underpart of her hull is completely torn away by contact with the 'sharp edges of the coral, the vessel now lies in a high and dry and perfectly upright position. The foremast has snapped off, and is hanging over the side, but the upper portions of the hull appear to be in a fairly sound condition.
