CRICKET
WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION The Management Committee of" the Wellington Cricket Association met last night, Mr. M. Luckie presiding.-, *-''£■,_ The Canterbury Cricket Association wrote stating that it had accepted! Otago's challenge for a match' at Easter, asfthe Otago Association's letter was ' receiyecL prior to tho Wellington 'Association I *' le£^ ter. Also it was explained as a further reason that guided -the* committee in coming to this decision that ' the "Otago Association gave a,> guarantee that the proposed match would not 'imperil . the proposed scheme of inter-provincial matches as agreed upon at ' the" confer' ence held in Wellington in July last. 'The chairman "said there ' was no proposed scheme detailing what matches would be played. Wellington had never been officially advised ' as to any programme. He had written very fully to the chairman of the ' Canterbury Association, but his letter would not have' reached the Canterbury Association at the time of the meeting from which this letter emanated. The only agreement at the July meeting was to ensure a 1 greater number -. of inter-provincial matches being played. He expressed tha opinion that Wellington had been treated with discourtesy in the matter. He thought it would be as well to write to the chairman of the New Zealand Council on the subject, pointing out that until a private letter on the subject was received^ in December the .Wellington Association knew nothing about it. It was eventually decided to write tothe association's delegate to find out exactly what took place at- the Canterbury meeting. In the meanwhile the letter was received. JRIr. M. J. Crombie moved ..that the Otago Association be -written to and asked to arrange ior an annual match against Wellington, the Wellington team to visit Otago ' next , season. — This was agreed to.
