In connection with tho proposed an* pointment of a British Admiral to the supreme command of the Australian navy, though not officially announced, there is reason to believe that Rear' Admiral G. E. Patey, who has com* manded the Second Battle Squadron in the Second Division of the Horn© Fleet since 1910, will be selected for the position. [Rear- Admiral Patey, M.V.0,, A.D.C. to the King (1908), and for some time commander of the Second Division of the Second BAttle Squadron, was born at Montpellier, near Plymouth, on 24th February, 1859, being the aon of Captain Patey, R.N.
