RECHABITES' CONFERENCE
Tho biennial conference ' of tho Independent Order of Rechabifces begins at Blenheim to-morrow morning. There was a large attendance of delegates at a preliminary meeting held in the Rechabito Hall, Manners-street, this morning, whon <ho Govornmnnt Registrar of Friendly Societies (Mr. Hayes) and the Government Friendly Societies' Actuary (Mr. Traversi) were present, with the/ object of discussing tho effect of the' new legislation which came into operation on Ist January, 1912, and its effect particularly with regard to scale contributions. A Rechabite church parade was held last ovening, when a number of delegates to the conference and members of the Order marched in procession fvom the Queen's statue in Ivent-terrace (headed by the Boys' Mission Band), 1o St. Mark's Church, whero the Eev. J. Askew preached a sermon appropriate to the occasion. Delegates to tho number of over fifty left by the Paieena to-day for Nelson. The executive is as Jollowb: — D.C.R., J. J.
