TALISMAN. The following cablegram has been sent to London 1 : No. 14 level, south drive, progress 27ft, width of reef 54in; assay value, £3 6s. NEW SYLVIA, The manager telegraphed on Friday: tPortyflve 1b .of picked stone from tho stopes, ho. 3 level." SWASTIKA. ■The following rnport dated 20th February has. been received from the manage of the "Swastika Gold Mines s— "l have much pleasure in reporting that a large general eampkj of the stone 'from the face, about 80ft in from the outcrop on No. 6 (that is the ttig Reef) assayed at the Westport HchoOl of Mines ZO2 12dwt 6gr per ton, in value £10 5s pc? ton. As advised, this reef has been steadily improving as we crossed from the ft*rbwall to the hahgingwall and this assay is a most convincing proof. I do hot think there is such a large body of stone carrying equal valtie on this coast. We have beeh delayed in development work on account of two of the men being on the sick list, and so far have beett unable to replace thorn. All available storage room at the tunnel mouth got blocked with stone, and the horao we depended on for haulage could not be obtained. However, We got another one a week later, and I hope to be on time with a crushing of 20 to 25 tons by the end of the month. I trust to make a good battery return, although there will not be very much of the atone as assayed above."
