MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Before Dr. M'Arfchur, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court this morning, 'Stella Taylor was charged with being a rogue ana a vagabond, and sent to gaol for six months. Lawrence Price, who assaulted Henry Evans, was fined £1, with costs (10s). Thomas Callaghan was convicted and discharged for the theft' of a clock. William Spindler, charged with receiving stolen goods was further remanded until 31st instant. Horace J. Richards, charged with, forging a cheque for £5, was further remanded until 31st instant, to appear at Martinborough, where the offence was committed. James Mason, who refused to attend a cadet parade in uniform, was ordered to pay Court costs (7b). David Matthews was fined ss, with costs <7s), fof allowing his cattle to wander on the Smila Estate. Mr. S. Cohen, J.P., presided over a silting of the Mount Cook Police Court this morning. Charged with drunkenness, John Kershaw was ' convicted and fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours" detention. For a similar offence, T. Cordy was mulcted in the eurn of 405.« with the option of seven da,ys' imprisonment. Two first offenders were leniently dealt with.
