The bowling tournament to-day wad t»k«n up with the champion singles, for which there were 160 entrants, divided^ into ten sections of sixteen players. The gam©9 were carried out on a modified two4ifo system. s Each player has at least two gamee. Eight winners and ', eight lofieia play off together in the second round of the section. As a. result four with two wins and eight with on© J win continue in, four with two losses retire. In the third round, four with I two wine have byes, and four with one win and tJhe loss play off. The four winners then continue on in the fourth round with the previous four winners, and so the result is cut down to the final pair to decide for the section win* } ner. ' The weather was glorious, tho only objection being a rather strong wind at ! times sweeping across the green, which frequently had the effect of altering the run of the bowls. Chmtchurch gteen : J. Milner has to play Alkn (Taieri) for winner of Section A. United' green, Section A : Carson (Kaitangata) won outright. Section B : Willis (St. Albans) 14, Campbell (Wellington) 12; A. E. Smith (Southland) 12, Willis, 10. Smith has to play Carsen for the winner of the gre«n. Opawa green: Tumbull (Taieri) 16, JohnsUn -(St. Albans) 11. St. Albans green, Section B : Clark (St. KMa) U, Young (Sydenham) 9.' Clark plays Smith. Edgeware green : Casey (Ponsonfey) 16, Edwards (Tentuka) 14. Sunnyeide green : Thomson (Wellington) 17, Mollison (Phoenix) 11. Thomson plays Walker. The final* in all classes will be played to-morrow.
