CITY BURGLARY
QUANTITY OF JEWELLERY — STOLEN. Some time last night or in the early hours of this morning a daring robbery was committed in Latrtbton-quay. The plate glass window in the front of the shop of Samuel Boss, jeweller, was broken, and a quantity of jewellery stolen. The thief first cut a chess-board pattern, presumably with a diamond, and then broke the glass and abstracted rings, bracelets, and miscellaneous jewellery of a value not yet ascertained. There are blood-stains on the glass surrounding the aperture, and it is. probable that there may be finger-prints whereby the police may gain some due. A great deal of the articles in the window were left within easy reach of the break, and evidently the thief made his selection and left- hurriedly.
That is the question. Whether it is better to roast all day long, or buy Geo. Fowlds, Ltd.'s, renowned underwear and be cool.— Advt. There- is reported to be a very keen, enquiry from all parts of the district for copies /of the schedule for the Masterton A. and P. Aeaoei&tion's Show, to be held at Solway on. Tuesday and Wednesday, 18th and 19th February. The Masterton Show, is now claimed to be one of the premier live stock shows of the Dominion, and the fact that there has been a demand from Argentine and outside 'countries, as well as from Australia, for the progeny of < prias-taking stock at this show, ,1s striking evidence in support of . this claim. The train services are well arranged, and the stock is landed right on to the show grouhd, where there are numerous holding paddocks and hor*e*6tall# and ati abundance of running water and fodder, to say nothing of sleeping accommodatioh for the men in charge. Exhibitors at the show have also an opportunity of testing the market &b one of the biggest ram fairs in the Dominion, which is held on the two days succeeding the show, Entries close on Monday, 3rd February, with the secretary (Mr. J. B. EmaSett).
