viceroy's cub* a doublsTdead-heat. By Telegraph — Prw* Association.— Cdpjright. (Received December 2f7 4 9.10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Advice has been received here that the Viceroy's Cup resulted in Mayfowl and Brogue running a dead-heat for first place, and Gunboat and Hilarity a dead-heat for third place. When the last mail left India Mayfowl—who was bred in Ireland and who won the race last year— was a hot favourite. Gunboat, who dead-heated with Hilarity for third place, was bred by Mr. J. C. N. Grigg, of Longbeach, Canterbury, New Zealand, and was sold for 100 soys about two years ago. Afterwards, under the care of Mr. M'Grath, he won several handicap events in New Zealand and was later taken to Australia, where, in the nomination of Mr. E. A. 'Connolly, he won a big handicap and brought off a large coup. *He was subsequently sold, and was shipped to India. Mayfowl was first raced over country in Ireland, but has done remarkably well on the flat in India. KARKAKATTA PLATE. (P.eceived December 27, B. IS a.m.) PERTH, This Day.
